Bill Would Allow MS School Boards to Appoint Superintendents
A bill that would change all public school district superintendents to appointees has passed the Mississippi House Education Committee. The bill passed out of committee on Friday
Senate Bill 2438 would require that all public school districts in the state appoint their superintendents starting in 2019. School superintendents are elected to the position in district-wide elections. The bill would have local school boards appoint them instead. The appointments would last a maximum of four school years.
