PERRY on SCOTUS hypocrisy

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 7, 2016

BRIAN PERRY/Confirmation hypocrisy

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning, it smells like judicial confirmations. With a vacancy on the United States Supreme Court and less than a year left in his term, President Barack Obama will nominate someone far less conservative than the late Justice Antonin Scalia. The Republican controlled Senate will not confirm.

On the political side, Democrats will call the GOP obstructionists and make this an issue in battleground states. For Republicans who attempt to make judicial politics a campaign issue every year, they’re ready to be thrown in that briar patch.

The Democrats contend the Senate should do its Constitutional duty and confirm a qualified candidate nominated by the President of the United States because elections have consequences.
