Bill Minor: Dearing ‘godfather’ of Mississippi gaming
State Sen. Bob Dearing, the Democrat from Natchez, has been in the news quite a bit lately because of an election dispute, not for the reason he should be most remembered.
You could say that Dearing is the godfather of Mississippi’s multibillion-dollar casino gaming industry. The 81-year-old Dearing had authored a bill back in 1990 to let Mississippi River gaming boats dock in Natchez.
