Legislative Democrats in no hurry to name House, Senate leaders

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 18, 2016

Legislative Democrats yet to select leader

The second week of the 2016 session is coming to an end with House Democrats yet to select a member to replace their ousted leader, Bobby Moak of Bogue Chitto, who was defeated in the November general election.

“I think we will have somebody in place in the next couple of weeks,” said Rep. Kevin Horan, D-Grenada.

House Democrats, who lost at least six seats in the November general election, say there is no need to hurry with the decision of who will serve as their leader for the next four years…

…Over in the Senate, Hob Bryan of Amory served as Democratic leader for the past four-year term.

Bryan said at some point Senate Democrats will meet to select a leader for the upcoming term.
