“The third time is the charm,” said Senator Kevin Blackwell with a grin, shortly before he took the oath of office in the ornate gold-gilt Mississippi Senate Chamber. Blackwell represents Senate District 19.
It took Blackwell three tries to fulfill his dream of serving the people of DeSoto County as an elected public official and Blackwell was clearly elated as the gavel sounded and his duties began.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be able to represent the people of DeSoto County,” Blackwell said. “It’s a goal of mine that has been long in coming. Hopefully, it will inspire people to work for a goal and not give up.”
