SD 37: Dearing says, “I won,” while Sojourner claims election fraud

Sojourner claims ‘criminal fraud’; Dearing says, ‘I won’

Sojourner, after weeks of examining ballots and pondering a challenge, filed a petition with the Senate late Wednesday claiming there was “criminal fraud in the election process” that resulted in her loss to Dearing by 64 votes out of more than 16,000 cast in the race. Sojourner said that a “preponderance of evidence” shows the Senate should void a Franklin County precinct Dearing won and declare her the winner – or at least order a special election.

Dearing on Thursday said he believes “the votes in Senate District 37 were legally cast, that the votes were counted accurately by the election commissioners … and that I won the general election on Nov. 3, 2015, by 64 votes.”
