Barbour pleads not guilty to felony assault
WASHINGTON — Haley Reeves Barbour Jr., youngest son of former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony assault for allegedly hitting a man at a bar in Washington earlier this year.
The charge against Barbour was upgraded from a misdemeanor to a felony in September. He is scheduled to stand trial on April 19 next year.
“Mr. Barbour looks forward to trial by a jury of his peers,” said Marlon Griffith, Barbour’s Washington-based attorney.
