Congressman Harper endorses State Rep. Ray Rogers (HD 61)

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 31, 2015

RELEASE:

Dear Friends,

My family and I live in Pearl – House District 61, and Ray Rogers is our State Representative. In the Republican Primary on Tuesday, August 4th, we will proudly vote for Ray.

Ray is well-respected at the State Capitol where he serves on major committees and is getting things done for Pearl. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman of Ways and Means and is a member of the Banking and Financial Services, Investigate State Offices, Management, Military Affairs, and PEER committees. Ray has served as the chairman of the Military Affairs and PEER committees. Ray has many legislative accomplishments, including the bill to provide a free car tag to all Purple Heart recipients, and legislation that helped pave the way for the Mississippi Braves, Bass Pro Shops, Sam’s Club, and the Outlets of Mississippi.

Unfortunately, Ray has come under attack by a group because of his unwavering support of our Pearl Schools. It’s hard to understand why an outside group from Madison County is telling folks in Pearl who we should vote for. Nobody knows our schools – students, teachers, staff, and administrators – better than the people of Pearl and our Ray Rogers.

Ray has been recognized by the Pearl Schools community for his efforts – not long ago the football stadium was named in his honor. He’s also been praised for his work on behalf of our veterans and National Guard. Ray has been named Pillar of the Community twice, and the Ray Rogers Award for Outstanding Community Service is awarded by the City of Pearl every year to a deserving individual.

I’m supporting my friend, Ray Rogers, because I trust him. Ray has been a great role model for me as an elected official, showing me how to treat everyone with respect. Please join my family in voting for our Representative Ray Rogers on Tuesday, August 4th.

Sincerely,

Gregg Harper
