Jim Hood raised $188K this period/$211 COH – gets money from Rudy Warnock, DAGA and Hollywood

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 11, 2015

Jim Hood released his latest campaign finance report. It looks like he had some catching up to do. He reported $188K on the report for this period, but the bulk of funds shown on the report seem to be from earlier in the cycle. It looks more like $36K was raised in new, heretofore unreported contributions. That brings his COH up to $211,000.

There were a few notable interesting contributions.

Democratic Attorneys General Association kicked in $100,000. DAGA has been involved in the past pushing money to Hood from sources like Dickie Scruggs and Joey Langston.

Hood received a $10,000 contribution from Rudy Warnock of Warnock & Associates in Madison.

Finally, Hollywood seems to be unusually involved in a MS AG’s race for Jim Hood. He received $1000 contributions from: 21st Century Fox America, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Disney Worldwide Services, and the Illinois Film Political Action Committee. Hood is locked in a major fight with Google, which has also been adverse to the entertainment/publishing industry. They even had a name for attacking Google via Attorneys General – they called it Project Goliath.

For his part, his Republican challenger Mike Hurst raised $18,450 this period which brings his cash on hand up to $163,864.
