Longtime state Rep. Bennett Malone, who has missed most of the current legislative session due to illness, is resigning after nearly 36 years in the Legislature.
Malone, D-Carthage, appeared briefly in a wheelchair, on the House floor Thursday morning and was recognized by his peers and received a standing ovation. Rep. Steve Holland, D-Plantersville, announced Malone’s arrival and described him as “an icon of this House.”
