State revenue up $88 million
With state revenue running $88 million above the last estimate and another $112.7 million available, the House Appropriations chairman predicts that for the first time in many years there will be heated debate and a fight over extra spending.

…House Appropriations Chairman Herb Frierson, R-Poplarville, said the committee also plans to use $112.7 million set aside in the budget since the state has fully funded its “rainy day” fund with more than $400 million.
The state will have more than $200 million extra for the budget without touching the rainy day reserves.
