STARKVILLE — At the close of business on Friday, Oct. 31, Mississippi’s 2014 U.S. Senate race had run up a tab of $22,129,447 and growing, according to the Sunlight Foundation’s “Influence Explorer” website.

Soak that up, folks. Between incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran, GOP primary challenger state Sen. Chris McDaniel, and Democratic nominee former U.S. Rep. Travis Childers, pursuit of a Mississippi seat in the U.S. Senate has cost $22.1 million.
