Harrison County Republican Women try to bring party together

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) –
It’s clear to see that there’s a crack forming in the Mississippi Republican Party, but one group of ladies met Monday evening in hopes of bringing coastal Republicans closer together. The Harrison County Republican Women meet once a month, but Monday’s meeting was the first since runoff election results had been certified.

Throughout this election, a national spotlight has been cast on the Mississippi Republican Party. Right now, the nation is seeing a party divided. Lucci Chambless, of the Harrison County Teenage Republican Club, was at the social. She was tired of the split in the Republican Party and thought it was time for a change.

“President Lincoln said, ‘a house divided cannot stand,’ and it’s time to make amends and put this behind us,” said Chambless.

That was the hope of many of the women attending the Harrison County Republican Women’s July social. Vice President Linda McGovern was pleased with the turn out.

“I’m glad that we’re finally going to be coming together,” said McGovern.

She is seeing it happen quicker than she anticipated, but she knows the party is not out of the woods, just yet. If there is a chance that results were obtained illegally, she wants that to come to light.
