Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, Gov. Bryant in Pascagoula Friday for Tripoli keel authentication at Ingalls

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant will speak Friday at a keel authentication ceremony at Ingalls Shipbuilding for the company’s amphibious assault ship Tripoli (LHA 7).

Mabus’ wife, Lynne, is the ship’s sponsor and she will have her initials welded onto a keel plate to authenticate the keel of LHA 7 has been “truly and fairly laid.”

LHA 7 will join LHA 6 as the first two ships in the new America class of amphibious assault ships for the Navy.
