Marcy talks small government, education at USM
Marcy shared his reasons for running and a message that he hoped resonated with everyone:
“It’s important that America stay America. It’s important that we continue the dream we have,” he said. “We need folks who understand that if the government just leaves us alone, we can do wonderful things for ourselves and the rest of our country.”
McDaniel’s opponent in the Republican primary, U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran, was speaking Thursday night to the Harrison County Republican Club and Harrison County Republican Women in Gulfport. Marcy’s opponent, Travis Childers of Booneville, didn’t respond to a request to appear, said Shea Dobson, Young Americans for Liberty state chair and president of the Gulf Park chapter. Dobson’s group and the Student Government Association sponsored the forum.
“I think having candidates come to the campus shows that they really want to engage the youth and the community,” said Dobson, who said they hoped to host many similar forums.
