Rep. Palazzo gears up to run for third term

Palazzo said while he doesn’t believe politics should become a career, he said he intends to vie for a third term in Congress this November.

“Yes sir, I want to continue to have the opportunity to represent the citizens of the Fourth Congressional District,” said Palazzo, who introduced legislation that would limit representatives to six terms and senators to two.

While acknowledging his conservative roots, Palazzo said he didn’t think of himself as part of the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party.

“I try to stay away from labels, but I am a Republican because I believe in Republican principles, and like the majority of the Fourth Congressional District, I consider myself a social and fiscal conservative,” Palazzo said. “I’m just a conservative Mississippian.”

While Palazzo credited the Tea Party for focusing more attention on the likes of government spending, he said feels more aligned with what he called the “silent majority” of Americans.
