Teacher pay will be the hot topic of 2014 legislative session
There doesn’t appear to be a lot on the 2014 agenda of the Mississippi Legislature, which opened for business Tuesday, that will really stir the pot due to the Republican Leadership of Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and Speaker Philip Gunn mostly being on the same page when it comes to hot button issues.
There is one difference of opinion entering the session, however, and that’s on the possibility of teacher pay raises, which could lead to some fireworks.
Gunn, during his tour around the state, voiced his support for a teacher pay raise.
