We know the CL is having trouble...

We know the CL is having trouble filling its op-ed pages, but this Robert Regl piece takes the cake

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 2, 2014

GOP at heart of America’s decline

Republicans have mastered the techniques taught by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s minister of propaganda: “The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly — it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”

Think about it. How many times have you heard Republicans proclaim, “Debt and high taxes are our biggest problems and must be addressed now!”? In spite of the facts that the debt has been going down, the rich are paying less tax then ever and there are no good-paying jobs for the 49 percent of the population who are unemployed or working at below poverty-level wages and require government assistance of one sort or another. In addition to all of this, Republicans insist on expanding the military beyond any reason for its function as an arm of foreign policy.

“Neither you nor I should forget that the madness of the GOP is the central issue of our time.” — Paul Krugman, world-respected and Nobel Prize-winning economist

Editors note – This was not some wingnut unpublished Letter to the Editor. This was in print. This guy Regl from Hattiesburg makes Bill Minor look like Sid Salter. He has also penned such luminary pieces as Bush will not leave office willingly (stating that GWB planned on staying on as a dictator), and more recently Obama a disappointment (but better than Republican cuckoos). Maybe the CL needs to mine its “op-ed” content from a slightly less shrill and paranoid population that better reflects its readership.
