Barbour talks energy in Pascagoula

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour was all about energy during his visit with Pascagoula Rotarians on Wednesday.

As keynoter speaker during the luncheon meeting, Barbour’s about 35-minute speech focused exclusively on energy, the need for energy self-sufficiency and Mississippi Power Co.’s Kemper County project.

“I think (energy) is so important to the future of not only American manufacturing, but to America and Mississippi’s prosperity,” he told the group of about 80. “We need to be very careful that we don’t become overly dependent on any one fuel source.”

Energy was the main topic for Barbour also last week when he spoke before another group of Rotarians in Starkville….

…Barbour told Pascagoula Rotarians today that he supported the project as governor and continues to support it for many reasons.
