BREAKING: Judge orders special election for Hattiesburg mayor

Judge William Coleman has ordered a special election for mayor of Hattiesburg.

Coleman rejected challenger Dave Ware’s legal team’s argument and disputed the initial 9-3 ruling by the jury saying the 8-4 outcome was to be accepted per Supreme Court precedent.

Both Johnny Dupree’s and Ware’s team agreed that Governor Phil Bryant will have to set the date for the special election.

Details of the election (i.e. who will be allowed on the ballot) are yet to be determined.
