tate GOP Chairman Joe Nosef met with media on Tuesday, the day before he heads to Boston for the Republican National Committee’s summer meeting, and gave sort of a state-of-the-party update.
Nosef said the most important issue for the party right now, on both the national and state level, is “party unity.”
“I talk with a lot of people, and nobody is impressed with what they see as us bickering amongst ourselves,” Nosef said. But he also said he believes talk and “intrigue and rumors” about divisions among state Republican leaders (such as Gov. Phil Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves) are overblown, deal primarily with minute insider baseball issues, and the end results in state government, such as education reform, have been good.
