Miss. Senators form conservative coalition

Miss. Senators form conservative coalition

A group of 11 Republican state Senators announced the formation of the Senate Conservative Coalition on Tuesday.

Many political observers view the formation of the coalition as a response to heavy-handed rule over the Senate and legislation by Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and his leadership. But members of the new coalition said this is not the case.

“We are not disgruntled, we are not unhappy, we are not rogue and we are not covert and we are not subversive,” said the new coalition’s chairman, Sen. Chris McDaniel, R-Ellisville. He said the group is “an intellectual movement, first and foremost” of like-minded conservatives and that a letter went out Tuesday asking any senators to join.
