Bryant has met with HHS officials about Medicaid
Gov. Phil Bryant has met with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ staff and talked to her via phone about Medicaid.
Bryant’s spokesman Mick Bullock said the governor met with Sebelius a few weeks The governor hinted during a talk show appearance today of a possible compromise plan in the Medicaid stalemate.
At a partisan impasse in the House over Medicaid expansion, state lawmakers left their regular session without reauthorizing or funding state Medicaid for the coming fiscal year that starts July 1. Lawmakers expect Bryant to call them back in special session before the program that already serves more than 640,000 people “expires.”
