Coverage of Shuster’s visit Pascagoula to discuss Coast needs
U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster said today that despite sequestration and the need to greatly reduce federal spending, the nation’s transportation needs must continue to be met.
Shuster (R-Pa.), Chairman of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, was on the Coast Wednesday at the invitation of Rep. Steven Palazzo. The two met in a roundtable discussion with Coast transportation leaders at Merchant & Marine Bank in Pascagoula.
“Our sea, land and air assets are extremely important to our regional economy, our national economy and also to our national security” Palazzo said after the rountable concluded.
“I wanted Congressman Shuster to hear first-hand about our roads that are crumbling, our bridges that are falling in, our ports that are being filled with silt and sand — and what we can do to improve not only our regional assets, but help our national economy.”
