Myrlie Evers to be featured speaker of Millsaps College lecture series
Myrlie Evers will be the featured speaker at Millsaps College on April 5 for the 2013 Rabbi Perry Nussbaum Lecture Series.
The series, which is dedicated to people who have stood against racial bigotry and religious prejudice, will be at 12:30 p.m. in the Robert and Dee Leggett Special Events Center in the A. Boyd Campbell College Center. Evers’ lecture is free and open to the public.
Evers is perhaps best remembered as the widow of Medgar Evers, the Mississippi state field secretary for the NAACP who in 1963 was gunned down in the driveway of his home in Jackson.
