Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has been indicted on charges related to misappropriation of city taxpayer funds stemming from an investigation stretching back nearly two years.
A press conference providing full details could be forthcoming, local and state officials said.
Davis was indictied, sources indicate, under two counts of embezzlement and one count of false pretenses.
According to the indictment filed in the 17th Circuit Court District of DeSoto County, Davis did ” willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, knowingly with intent to defraud the state or any department, agency, office, board, commission, county, municipality, or other subdivision of state or local government, falsify, conceal, or cover up by trick, scheme, or device a material fact, or make any false, ficticious, or fraudulent statements or representations, by purchasing a motor vehicle leased by the City of Southaven …”
That count alone could net Davis five years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
