Nunnelee Newsletter: The Choice Remains

Dear Friends,

On Friday, the newest jobs numbers were released. The news was grim: unemployment rose to 7.9% and the number of people in the labor force is still near its lowest level in 30 years. It is clearer than ever that the strategy of the Democrat-controlled Senate and the White House has failed America. They made a decision to kill just about every bill the House has sent them over the past two years. We have passed over 30 jobs bills that would cut taxes, spending, and red tape as well as encourage American energy development and small business job creation. We have voted over 30 times to repeal, defund, and dismantle the President’s health care law.

The House passed these bills not to score political points, but because we know that the answers to our problems are not in Washington. The strength of America is in its people, families, neighborhoods, and communities. Spending must be controlled because it is immoral to leave trillions of dollars in debt for our children and grandchildren to pay. Higher taxes and class warfare are not the answer; we need a government that is accountable to the people it serves and is limited to its core constitutional responsibilities. That is my vision for our government and I believe it is your vision as well.

In the weeks ahead, you are going to hear a lot about the fiscal cliff, sequestration, deficit reduction, and taxes. There will be negotiations and, unfortunately, a lot of political posturing. But a fundamental choice will remain: Are we going to enact policies that restore American strength and prosperity, or will American greatness become something our children and grandchildren read about in their history books?

Stay in touch and God bless,

Alan Nunnelee
