Judge says Southaven mayor can keep paycheck, for now

A Hinds County Chancery Court judge has granted Southaven Mayor Greg Davis’ request for a preliminary injunction that stops Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering from garnishing his paycheck to recover disputed debt.

But at the same time, Chancellor Dewayne Thomas also ordered Davis to put up a $75,000 bond as security until he makes a final ruling on whether Davis owes the debt that the state says he owes the city of Southaven.

Thomas issued the order Friday granting the injunction based on several things including whether the garnishment would cause Davis, “irreparable harm.”
