Sen. Roger Wicker blasts Mississippi political science professor Wiseman

Sen. Roger F. Wicker, R-Miss., said a professor of political science at Mississippi State University “needs to be called out” for suggesting Mitt Romney is a tough sell for traditionalist Southern voters.

Speaking on the floor of the Republican National Convention Tuesday night, Wicker said W. Martin Wiseman, director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University, is “completely a property of the Democratic Party.”

Reached Wednesday afternoon and read Wicker’s comments, Wiseman said he didn’t understand where the “diatribe” came from but that he is “not affiliated in any way with the Democratic Party.”
