Hurricane Isaac side-stepped the Pine Belt as it flirted with landfall along the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, delivering mainly a glancing blow of spitting rain and sighing winds.
“We’ve been blessed so far,” Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree said Wednesday morning during a briefing at the Forrest County Emergency Management Agency command center.
“The roads are open, the wind’s down and the rain’s been steady and not those drastic downfalls.”
