Wicker visits local defense plant
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker received a quick tour of the General Atomics plant in Tupelo where the company makes its electromagnetic systems products.
Those products are built to assist the U.S. military in a plethora of ways.
“We’ve got a fabulous workforce that’s cross-trained that one day helps us build power electronics,” said Scott Forney, the senior vice president at General Atomics. “The next day, it may be building motors. We’ve prepared a new facility to build submarine motors, commercial motors. And the technicians are fabulous. And the on-the-job training has been stellar as well from both the state and federal levels.”
Wicker says the trip had somewhat of a special meaning to him personally.
