Travis Childers sues business over alleged damage to vacation home

Former U.S. Rep. Travis Childers of Booneville claims nearby Flagship Aqua Yacht Harbor has contaminated his Pickwick Lake property.

He’s taken his grievance from circuit court in Tishomingo County to federal court.

Childers, through attorney Casey Lott, wants compensation and other damages for what the lawsuit terms Flagship’s negligent and reckless acts that resulted in nearly 7,000 gallons of gasoline leaking from one of its fuel storage tanks onto Childers’ property.

The lawsuit reports the alleged leak permanently damaged trees and other vegetation on the property, diminishing its value, and caused Childers to lose use and enjoyment of the property for about four months.

Aqua Yacht Harbor operates a boating service dock.
