The price of power: Few breaks in residential rates
John Cox says it’s getting tougher to keep in check what he pays each month for electricity as other costs rise.
The Laurel resident drives his wife 80 miles round-trip to Hattiesburg weekly for chemotherapy. The cost quickly adds up with gas that long ago sailed past $3 per gallon.
Cox, a Vietnam veteran, no longer can afford to go the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson for regular checkups.
