Dickie Scruggs files notice for new appeal

Richard “Dickie” Scruggs’ attorney filed notice Wednesday to take 2009 conviction issues to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Last week, Senior Judge Glen H. Davidson denied Scruggs’ district appeal to throw out his guilty plea and conviction in a case involving the alleged improper influence of then-Hinds Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter.

Scruggs then asked for and received Davidson’s approval to appeal his decision.
