Legislature ends its 2012 session
The Mississippi Legislature on Thursday approved a redistricting plan and ended its 2012 session with lawmakers voting to adjourn “sine die,” a Latin phrase that means to go forth with no set time to return.
For several days, as lawmakers grappled with a few last issues and wondered whether the session would run into the weekend, there were running jokes and Twitter postings ascribing other definitions to sine die, with one popular one being “Now your money and liberties are safe.”
