House plan gives Madison county new seat
Madison County will have more “whole” representation in the Legislature under proposed lines that were expected to be be approved this week.
The House approved a reapportionment map last week and the Senate was expected to vote yesterday on its plan but had not by press time.
The House was expected to approve the Senate plan and vice-versa today with both going to Gov. Phil Bryant for his approval.
The U.S. Justice Department must give final approval.
Under the House plan, Madison County will pick up a new “whole” seat – District 73.
