Voter ID law inspires integrity in elections
Opponents of voter ID legislation have, for years, criticized photo ID requirements to vote as somehow racist.
Echoing similar arguments, the overtly-partisan United States Justice Department rejected South Carolina’s voter ID law last December; and just weeks ago, it turned its attention toward a new photo ID requirement in Texas. As to both states, the DOJ argued that requiring photo ID to vote suppresses minority turnout.
But when the issue is examined objectively, data gathered from states that have implemented voter ID refutes allegations that it prevents racial minorities from voting.
