UPDATE – Hood seeks resolution of federal claim on settlement funds

Mississippi has until the end of the month to refute a federal claim on millions the state received through a lawsuit with four pharmaceutical companies.

If it doesn’t, the state could lose much of the $20 million that came from litigation related to inflation of average wholesale prices of drugs.

Attorney General Jim Hood argues the federal government already has received money from the drug makers through its own settlements.

Hood said Tuesday he thinks the matter can be resolved. His office is working to provide necessary documents to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
