Plan for downtown Jackson hotel delayed again but not derailed
Dreams of a convention center and hotel in downtown Jackson began in the ’90s.
Although plans called for a hotel to be connected to the center by its opening in 2009, it remains years away from reality.
Cecil Brown was on a task force of business leaders and city staffers appointed by then-mayor Kane Ditto to explore a convention center concept.
During that process, the need for a hotel emerged, he recalled.
