NUNNELEE APPLAUDS TOYOTA PLANT OPENING

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Alan Nunnelee applauded the opening of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi facility at Blue Springs. As a member of the Mississippi Senate, Congressman Nunnelee was the primary sponsor of the legislation that paved the way for this project to become a reality.

“Today is an exciting day for Mississippi. Toyota is a world-class company that could have located this plant anywhere; that they chose Mississippi is powerful statement about the job-friendly environment we have created in the past 8 years. Under Governor Barbour’s leadership, Mississippi has held the line on state spending, refused to raise taxes, and instituted effective lawsuit reform which has led directly to investment in our state from businesses like Toyota.”

Due to critical votes in the House of Representatives, including one on the Balanced Budget Amendment, Rep. Nunnelee was unable to attend the “line off” ceremony for the first Corolla manufactured at the Blue Springs plant.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee. This is his first term.
