Chamberlin, Quarles look ready for Supreme Court run
Circuit Judge Bobby Chamberlin and Starkville attorney Lydia Quarles look poised to run for the state Supreme Court seat to be vacated when Justice George C. Carlson Jr. retires in January 2013.
Monday, Carlson made public his plans to leave the bench at the end of his 11-year term.
One judge who won’t make the race is the Court of Appeals’ Jimmy Maxwell of Oxford.
Maxwell told the Daily Journal on Tuesday he enjoys his work, but a 2012 political race isn’t in the cards for him.
