Gov.-elect Bryant taps Herring to lead transition team
Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant is not wasting any time as he prepares to become Mississippi’s next governor in January.
A day after he was declared the winner of the gubernatorial election, Republican Bryant began forming a transition team.
“We want to make sure that we keep up to speed – that we don’t miss a beat,” Bryant said Wednesday. “There is a great deal of work to be done.”
Former state GOP chairman Jim Herring will lead the transition team. Other members are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
“We will have many people involved,” Herring said.
