Senator Chris McDaniel supports Prop 31
McDaniel says eminent domain has been abused by the government since 2005. He says for the first time in history after the KELO decision the government has taken land from private individuals and given the land to other private individuals. He calls that an improper use of eminent domain and says it needs to be reformed.
“I believe people value their property here in Mississippi,” said McDaniel. ” There is no justification for taking someone’s property and giving to someone else under those circumstances. If it’s a true public use, that is one thing. It it’s simply to give to a developer or to a corporation that’s quite another.”
McDaniels says he believes the initiative will pass in November.
