CL: Hood, Simpson spar in AG race

…On Nov. 8, Hood faces his toughest foe – Steve Simpson, a 52-year-old former judge, prosecutor and public safety commissioner whose family has long been involved in politics. Simpson has raised more than $400,000 in contributions.

Marty Wiseman, director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and professor of political science at Mississippi State University, said most of the political races in Mississippi this fall seem more like love fests than fights, but at least “the candidates for attorney general can sling barbs better at each other than most.”…
