$10M spent in gov., lt. gov. races

With just a week until the primary, candidates for governor and lieutenant governor collectively have spent more than $10 million in their efforts to get elected, campaign finance reports show.

Candidates filed their final pre-election reports with the secretary of state’s office on Tuesday, detailing how much they’ve raised and spent so far.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Bryant led the pack, dolling out more than $3.1 million on his election bid, including $843,451 since July 1.

Bryant, who has been lieutenant governor since 2008, ended the reporting period with $668,119 on hand heading into the primary next Tuesday.
