Politico Andy Taggart observed last week that Hewes has shown he can win legislative battles with grace, lose with poise and lead with wisdom.
We agree with Taggart that Hewes knows the Senate, he knows the Senators and he knows the legislative process as do few in the Capitol. Hewes’ leadership and sheer determination to go on after Katrina was inspiring.
Tate Reeves is intelligent and capable, but Hewes’ experience in the Legislature is the tiebreaker that wins.
