Haley Barbour says this is likely his ‘last government job’
OXFORD — Gov. Haley Barbour is ruling out any prospects of seeking another public office and plans to make speeches and write a book, possibly about Hurricane Katrina, after his term ends in January.
Barbour, 63, said he will attend next summer’s Republican National Convention — he’s missed only one, while undergoing surgery, in more than 30 years — but he won’t be a candidate for vice president.
Once considered a potential Republican presidential candidate in 2012, he ruled out a run for the White House earlier this year.
