Pelahatchie wins top honor from Miss. Municipal League
Pelahatchie has a plan-for its past, present and future-and it’s being put into action by the city’s leaders.
It’s that impetus for positive change and sustainability that led to the Rankin County community’s selection as Best Overall City in the 2011 Excellence Awards from the Mississippi Municipal League.
The Jackson-based nonprofit, which lobbies on behalf of member cities and towns, bestowed just nine awards during its annual conference in Biloxi.
Pelahatchie was chosen by a three-judge panel in part because of its long-range plan for city growth, said George Lewis, the league’s executive director.
