I wanted to remind you I will be one of two moderators of a debate among three Republican candidates for governor. Stephanie Maxwell, evening news anchor for Jackson’s ABC affiliate, WAPT, will be the other moderator. We were asked to do this by the Central Mississippi Tea Party, which is sponsoring the debate.
The debate will take place Saturday, June 25, at Northwest Rankin High School’s Performing Arts Building. Doors will open at 3:00, and the debate will begin at 3:30. There is no cost to attend, and no tickets are required. It will be streamed live on www.wapt.com and you can also watch it on WAPT digital channel 16.2 in the Jackson area and various stations throughout the state.
This is not an MCPP event. The Central Mississippi Tea Party chose the candidates, based on a poll taken in March, and set the ground rules for the debate. Representatives of the three invited candidates have agreed to those ground rules.
The candidates in the debate will be Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, Coast businessman Dave Dennis, and Pearl River County Supervisor Hudson Holliday.
