Palazzo pumps gas with constituents
WADE — Mary Phillips was taken aback when her congressman asked to pump her gas.
When Steven Palazzo, R-Miss., convinced her he just wanted to talk to her about high fuel prices, she agreed, paying for $10 of regular unleaded to get her red Monte Carlo a few more miles up the road.
The nurse from Lucedale was heading home from her job in Mobile. She works in another state because jobs here are scarce, she said. She’d like to see lower gas prices. “We could use some help around here,” she said.
